2005 Petite Sirah

They may call me Petite, but I'm big on flavor: look for notes of spicy cherry jam, blackberry and mocha-choca.

Notes of spicy cherry jam, blackberry and mocha-choca flavors. This elegant Petite Sirah is medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel and pleasant finish.

Bring on the barbequed ribs, flame grilled steaks and any hearty meat dish you can think of with this Petite Sirah. Great wine by the glass or with your favorite grilled vegetable. Also a good choice for those smoked cheeses and your favorite tomato-based sauces.

The Clarksburg appellation is known for producing top quality Petite Sirah, mainly due to its ideal climate. As the Sacramento Valley heats up during the day, it pulls in the cool maritime breeze from the bay, which allows warm summer days and cool evenings. We take special care in all aspects of our grape growing from deficit irrigation, to precise pruning techniques to handpicking at harvest.

Grapes were machine harvested and gently crushed into a fermentation tank. Wine was fermented at warm temperatures and using a pump over technique. With some extended maceration, the wine was pressed away from the skins and allowed to settle. The wine was racked off gross lees and ages in mostly neutral oak barrels for more than 18 months.
