Chenin Blanc is arguably the most versatile of all wine grape
varieties and the Clarksburg appellation produces some of the
best Chenin in California. Our dry style Chenin is not only
full-bodied, but full of fruit. Our 2003 Chenin Blanc is an
Award Winner!
Not your typical Chenin, this dry wine has aromas of lemon blossoms
and grapefruit, with a refreshingly light finish.
The light citrus flavor makes this wine very easy to drink with
anything. Great with seafood, especially crab and spicy dishes
such as Chinese, Thai, Indian or Latin fare. Enjoy a glass with
mild cheeses and fruit as well. Drink slightly chilled.
The Clarksburg appellation is known for producing top quality
Chenin Blanc, mainly due to its ideal climate for this varietal.
As the Sacramento Valley heats up during the day, it pulls in
the cool maritime breeze from the bay, which allows warm summer
days and cool evenings. We take special care in all aspects
of our grape growing from deficit irrigation, to precise pruning
techniques, to handpicking at harvest.
Grapes were handpicked in the morning and gently pressed. Juice
was cold settled and initally fermented cold in stainless. A
portion of the wine finished fermentation in small oak barrels,
with the balance staying in stainless steel to preserve its
fruit character.
